Welcome
to our first annual Adult Winter Reading Program! This program, modeled
on our popular Summer Reading Program, has been created to give adults
some incentives to use that library card and get ready to spend cozy
winter times with a soft blanket, warm mug and a good book. Just sign
up at the Adult Information Desk or ask a reference assistant for more
information!
This
program is open to any APL cardholders that are 18 or older.
How
WRP Works
For each APL book read or audiobook listened to, you may enter your
name in a drawing for prizes. This involves filling out a form with
the title and author of the book you read, whether you liked the book,
and any comments youd like to add. This top part goes into a reading
records file (more information in the next paragraph).
The bottom part of the form, with spaces for your name and telephone
number, is the prize drawing entry slip. Adult Services and the bookmobile
will have a drawing box for each prize being offered and you may drop
your slip into the box for the prize you are most interested in receiving.
The more you read, the better your chances for winning! Additional entry
forms or further information can be found at the Adult Services Information
Desk or bookmobile.
The file of reading records, compiled of participant comments, will
be available throughout the WRP. We will also be stocked with bookmarks
of "recommended reads", you can check out our online
book lists, check out our NoveList database,
and as always, our staff is happy to assist you in deciding "what
should I read next?".
For each of the first six books you read, your entry card will be a
different color, following the spectrum of the rainbow (red, orange,
yellow, green, blue & violet), and must be filled out in that order.
You have received all your colored reading records at registration--dont
lose them! Once all your colored cards have been submitted, you will
receive a coupon for Penguin Petes.
Participants who read more than six books during the WRP will receive
a white form for each additional book completed. Identical to the others,
there is a twist to the white card--these cards can be used to enter
our grand prize drawing for a $25 department store gift certificate!
If you prefer, you can use your white entries for the other prizes.
As always, the more you read, the better your chances of winning.
The program ends February 28, so winners will be notified by telephone
beginning March 1.
All
library programs are sponsored and underwritten by the Friends of APL.
Without
Friends support, the above programs would simply not be possible.
