New York Times is probably the best known newspaper in the United
States, and bills itself as containing "all the news thats fit
to print." The range of news stories which appear in the New
York Times, and the detail in which that news is covered, is really
hard to find anywhere else. The Learning Network is a special section
of the New York Times online edition, made especially for kids, will
help you relate news stories to larger issues affecting your life.

living and dead, can be found at this site. This is a commercial site,
but in spite of having the banner ads typical of such sites, it provides
a great deal of free information.

Place, the National Inventors Hall of Fame, maintains this very useful
"Index of Inventions." They also have an index of inventors

- This
learn-to-read website is offered free as a public service and also
offers reading and writing materials at a very low cost. The website
