Forces of Nature

With all the renewed interest in Mount St. Helens, National Geographic has put together a great website on the four main "forces of nature": volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes.

The site also includes descriptions of the science behind the natural disasters along with activities for each, as well as introductory facts, a list of famous forces, a glossary, and more.

The First Amendment Needs You!

The Campaign for Reader Privacy, a website created by the American Booksellers Association, is striving to educate Americans about the fact that "The Government now has the power to obtain secret court orders to learn what you read in libraries, and buy in bookstores. This power has not made one American family safer, and threatens the cherished freedoms American soldiers have fought and died for since 1776."

There is an online petition that you can sign if you wish to authorize the Campaign for Reader Privacy to notify your representatives in Congress that you support legislation restoring the privacy of bookstore and library records.

It's easy, so sign the petition today!
